Completed hardstand pad beside new industrial warehousing at first light

Environmental civil works · Sydney & NSW

Civil work on
sensitive ground.

Erosion and sediment control, drainage and living streams, bank and foreshore stabilisation, access tracks and fire trails, land maintenance, and solar farm maintenance and panel cleaning. Your DA conditions name most of it, and council doesn’t wait for you to get to it. We put it in, keep it working as the site changes shape, and hand you the photo record.

What we cover

Everything that touches the ground

Erosion and sediment control to the NSW Blue Book, the drainage and earthworks that go with it, the land maintenance that keeps a site tidy between stages, and ongoing maintenance on operating solar farms. Same crew, same number.

Silt fencing & sediment control

Controls in before the first drop falls

Silt fence is the backbone of it. Around that sit the socks, the inlet protection, the stabilised entry and, on the bigger catchments, the basin. We install the lot and we come back and look after it.

Catchment matters

A fence is sized to what drains onto it. Run too much catchment into one line and it fails in the first real storm, and you pay for the fence twice plus the clean-up. We size the controls off the fall and the contributing area — and where the catchment is genuinely too big for a fence, we say so and put a basin in instead.

If you have an ESCP we build to it. If you don’t, we’ll tell you what the site needs before council does.

The spec

What goes in the ground

  • 100gsm woven geotextile, UV stabilised — not the light stuff that shreds in a season
  • Trenched in, not laid on the surface and stapled — the toe is what stops undermining
  • 600mm above ground, to Blue Book detail
  • Star pickets at 2m centres with safety caps fitted
  • Tensioned, so it holds shape under load instead of bellying out
  • Photographed on completion and the record sent to you

Environmental civil works

Where the ground is the asset

Drains that have to run like a creek. Banks that have to hold through a wet season. Tracks that have to carry a truck and still be there next year. It’s civil work, but it gets measured against the ground around it, not just a design level.

Living streams & drainage

Open drains reshaped into channels that carry the water and hold their shape — regraded to fall, battered back, and armoured where it scours.

  • Channel regrading — cut to design fall and cross-section, batters trimmed
  • Riffle beds, pools and rock at the invert formed and placed
  • Swales, diversion drains and outlets shaped and stabilised
  • Spoil handled on site — respread, stockpiled or carted
  • Machine control on the blade — every pass to design, so there’s less over-dig to make good and less bare ground to stabilise

Bigger plant hired in where the reach or the rock calls for it.

Bank & foreshore stabilisation

Creek and river banks, dam batters and foreshore reserves — reshaped to an angle that stands up, and held while the vegetation takes.

  • Batter reshaping and toe forming
  • Coir logs, brush walling and jute matting
  • Erosion matting and blanket over seeded ground
  • Topsoil respread and seedbed preparation ahead of planting
  • Access and exclusion fencing so it isn’t walked straight back in

Rock protection & revetment

Where the water moves fast enough to take the bank with it, it gets armoured. Filter layer first, then rock sized to the flow.

  • Geotextile and filter layer laid to spec
  • Rock beaching, rip-rap and revetment placed
  • Scour protection at headwalls, outlets and culverts
  • Geotextile sand containers where rock won’t suit
  • Excavator and rock grab hired in to suit the size of the job

Access, trails & fire trails

Getting people and machines in and out without cutting the place up, and leaving a line that drains.

  • Fire trails and APZ access — graded, drained, stabilised
  • Shared paths, walking trails and MTB trail construction
  • Access tracks and hardstand for the works themselves
  • Table drains, cut-off drains and culvert crossings
  • Guard rail, bollards and fencing on the finished line
  • Footings, abutments and approaches for boardwalks and platforms

Land maintenance

Keeping the ground under control between stages

Sites sit. Verges grow over, stockpiles seed, lots that were cleared last winter are chest high by spring. We knock it back with the machines that are already on your job.

  • Mulching — scrub and regrowth reduced on site instead of carted off
  • Flail mowing — verges, batters, lot frontages and access tracks
  • Slashing — long grass on vacant lots and staged land
  • Vegetation clearing ahead of survey, fencing or bulk earthworks
  • Tidy-ups before handover or before a client walks the site

Low ground pressure tracks, so we can work soft ground and stabilised areas without chewing them up. Priced on the job — send the area or the lot numbers and we’ll come back the same day.

Solar farms

Solar farm maintenance & panel cleaning

On a utility-scale solar farm the ground needs as much looking after as the panels. Tracks wash out, drains silt up, grass grows under the rows, dust builds on the glass and fire season doesn’t wait. One crew looks after the ground and the panels, so your O&M team can look after the generation.

Site maintenance

  • Slashing and vegetation control — between and under the rows, around inverters and the perimeter
  • Firebreaks — kept to the site’s bushfire management plan
  • Access track and drainage repair — including after storm events
  • Erosion repair — scours, swales, basins and the controls around the arrays
  • Drain and culvert clearing — keeping water off the tracks and away from the arrays
  • Fence lines and perimeter — slashed and kept clear for security and fire
  • Civil and in-ground works — access roads, pads and trenching for new stages

Panel cleaning

  • Brush cleaning with clean water — no chemicals, no pressure on the glass
  • Scheduled cleans — planned around your generation, early or late in the day
  • Event cleans — after dust storms, harvest, bushfire smoke or bird fouling
  • Photo record — before and after shots by block, so you can see what was done

We’ve built the access roads, trenching and in-ground infrastructure on a utility-scale solar farm, so we know how these sites run. Low ground pressure machines that won’t cut up the tracks between the rows. Priced per visit or as an ongoing maintenance contract.

Why it matters

Sediment leaving site is the one thing that stops a job

Councils and the EPA don’t need to catch the whole site failing. Mud on the road, a silt plume in the gutter, a fence flat since the last storm — that’s enough for a notice, and the fine is the small part. The stop-work is what costs you.

Compliance

Your DA conditions name sediment control. If it isn’t in and working you’re non-compliant from day one, before a cubic metre has moved.

Programme

A wash-out means re-doing works you already paid for, plus the clean-up, plus the days the site is shut.

Reputation

Neighbours photograph mud on the road. Councils remember which builders keep a clean site and which ones they chase.

The advantage

The plant and the controls from one number

Most sites run erosion control as a subbie who installs on day one and is never seen again. We’re already on site with the machines — so the controls get moved, repaired and reinstated as the earthworks change shape, instead of sitting where they were dropped in week one.

  • One contractor for plant, controls and land maintenance
  • Controls adjusted as the earthworks progress
  • Low ground pressure machines that don’t chew up stabilised access
  • Your compliance file kept current, not reconstructed later
